The NSF-DOE Vera C. Rubin Observatory revealed its first public images on 23 June 2025, showing the capacity of the new survey telescope before its full Legacy Survey of Space and Time begins.
The U.S. National Science Foundation said the observatory discovered 2,104 never-before-seen asteroids in about 10 hours of observations, including seven near-Earth asteroids that posed no danger.
