The FDA approved nivolumab with AVD chemotherapy on 20 March for adults and pediatric patients 12 years and older with previously untreated stage III or IV classical Hodgkin lymphoma.
FDA also granted traditional approval to nivolumab for specified adult relapsed or refractory classical Hodgkin lymphoma indications.
Classical Hodgkin lymphoma is often highly treatable, but front-line regimens still need to balance cure rates with long-term toxicity, especially for younger patients.
Sourcing note: Indication language and approval status are from FDA. The article does not compare the regimen against other standard front-line approaches.
Why It Matters
Bringing immunotherapy into earlier Hodgkin lymphoma treatment can shift the balance between efficacy and toxicity. Pediatric inclusion also makes long-term safety and survivorship considerations especially important.
