Anthropic introduced Claude Tag on 23 June 2026, describing it as a way for teams to work with Claude directly inside Slack channels rather than in isolated one-to-one chat sessions.

The company says administrators can grant Claude access to selected channels, tools, data sources and codebases. Users can then tag @Claude in a thread, delegate work, and let it break tasks into stages before returning results in the channel.

Anthropic is positioning the product as a more collaborative version of Claude Code. It says Claude Tag can build context from channels where it has permission, remember relevant information scoped to those channels, and work asynchronously over hours or days.

Sourcing note: Product capabilities, internal adoption figures and availability are Anthropic claims. Enterprise buyers should evaluate permission boundaries, audit logs, data retention, spend controls and whether Slack-channel context creates new governance risks.

Why It Matters

Enterprise AI is moving from individual assistants to shared workplace agents embedded in collaboration tools. The practical differentiator is no longer only model quality; it is access control, team memory, auditability and how much operational work can be safely delegated.

What to Watch

Watch whether customers treat channel-scoped memory as a productivity advantage or a compliance concern, and whether competing agents from Microsoft, Google and OpenAI converge on the same shared-teammate pattern.
